Proof is in the Corn Snow

This weekend was just more proof that any day on skis is better than, well, not being on skis.

Saturday morning’s gray and brown color scheme turned out to be no indication of how much fun there was to be had on the hill! The Ski School’s seasonal kids’ program started, painting the Practice Slope with a gazillion kids in pink helmets, snazzy flowered coats and even 2011-shaped sunglasses.  And did you know the 80′s are back? Oversize neon yellow and purple coats on backwards-skiing kids… who knew?

Conditions were down-right springy. Ski schoolers and die-hards alike raged Lift 4 like skiing was going out of style… or out of season… There were some serious moguls on the “clean way” and some sneaky-fun lines on the “dirty way” down, (pick your poison…) right up until Bruce called last chair.

Then the conTRIBUTErs showed up at the Pub and pretty much rocked the house. Two guys from local favorites the Grift +  two young and ridiculously talented guys on keys and drums + Phish covers + close your eyes = Are we at a private Phish concert at MRG???? It was arguably the best show to ever play the GSP. It was also arguably the loudest show, so I may wear my helmet to the bar next time since I can’t hear a darned thing with my brain bucket on… But whether the dub was within your range or not, there’s is no question that these guys are supremely talented and they put on a fantastic show. I’m going to suggest you at least make a cameo at the GSP the next time these guys hit town (The Grift – January 15.) This kind of talent should be heard. And danced to.

Sunday started off with a wet and depressing feel, but then Miss Sunshine showed up, corned up and jibbed out. There was a full on rail jam in the base area. We’re thinking of getting Burton to sponsor our terrain park now…

So the short story is: it was SUPER FUN here this weekend! If you missed it, we will be taking the weekdays off and returning next weekend with more of the same so get your fam in the car and get up here to join us!  This weekend the GSP will have NFL Playoff Games both Saturday and Sunday so wear your team colors… if you can! There’s nothing better than slapping on some skis and flirting with gravity, and then finishing off the day with a well earned beer and some footballin’ with friends.
