It started on Freeheel Friday with a great turn out for all the awesome Tele clinics that our ski school offers. Everywhere you looked there were groups of tele skiers taking instruction from the Red Coats. By the end of the day, all of them had made some incredible breakthroughs and were rippin’ up the place. And did I mention there was about 6-10 inches of surprise pow on Friday? Oh yeah. It was pretty sweet!
Then came Saturday. The sun was out, the wind was mild, there was still a ton of great skiing to be had and my new favorite band, Citigrass, absolutely tore up the bar! They played bluegrass Billie Jean! It was amazing! Everyone was all smiley, foot tappin’, head bobbin’, hip shakin’ and beer sippin’ all evening! We even got a great dance off from Wendy Bridgewater and her NATO tele clinic students – see? Tele skiing is just like dancing! (Check out the could-be-worse-iphone-videos below for more!)
Sunday wrapped up the weekend like a nice cozy security blanket. The temps dropped a bit, but that didn’t stop the Mad River Faithful from getting in their pre-game warm ups! The Mountain Hardware Ski Mountaineering Race took off with a bang at 10am! The UVM Outing Club came out for some tele lessons, the Ski School programs were packed (and have you seen how good these kids are!? Geez!!) and it was a certain Rental & Repair Shop Boy’s birthday. Add that to an awesome Superbowl (Sorry Colts fans!) and there was basically no way this weekend could have been better!
But wait – I take it back! This coming weekend could actually be even better!
This coming weekend is Valentine’s Weekend and the kick-off to Presidents’ Week! I can’t wait to see/ski with you all for the whole week! Plus on Sunday the 14th, the Stark Mountain Foundation is having their Valentine’s Gala! This is going to be one heck of a party! Food food food, dancing dancing dancing, auction, auction, auction, fun, fun FUN! Tickets are a super bargain price of $30 each (all supporting the mountain!) and rumor has it that if you buy your tickets online you can still take advantage of their Rose for Your Date deal. Tickets will be available at the door, but do yourself a favor and get them in advance either at MRG or online right now!
