Out with Music, In with Ms. Pacman

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Live Music to be replaced by Ms. Pacman

Fayston, Vermont – April 1, 2011 – Increased interest in “retro” themes have led Mad River Glen management to forgo all live music scheduled for next season in lieu of arcade games such as Ms. Pacman and Donkey Kong.

“Live music is loud and expensive,” says Basebox Manager, Mike Witzel. “We decided that arcade games would be equally effective to draw people to our establishment, without all the logistics and hassles of working with bands. They would be coin-operated so we’d make a ton more money. Plus when people dance with their ski boots on it really messes up the floor. It took a long time to redo the floor last year.”

“I’ve always been a huge advocate of live music,” says bartender Chris Mayone. “At first I was against this change, but when they told me there would be a bull riding machine installed, I figured I can’t argue with that!”

In recent months the number of people complaining about all the people having fun dancing to the live music in the bar has increased. Bands like the grift and Citigrass drew so many people that service was slowed and it was next to impossible to find a seat. “The bull riding machine will be a lot quieter,” said Mayone. “And it won’t want a beer during set break so that makes my job a ton easier.”

The list of new arcade games to be installed in the bar is not yet final, but early reports include a table top Ms. Pacman, Donkey Kong, Atari Frogger and Lunar Lander and a Deluxe Mechanical Bull with a Sofolex soft foam safety head. “It’s always ‘safety first’ here at Mad River,” noted Witzel. Some reports make mention of Sonic the Hedgehog, a Star Trek Pinball machine and a Great American Neon Lites Pool Table, but these reports were not confirmed.
